Thank you for having this page. My Grandfather Benjamin R. Timmerman was a part of this unit. He has recently passed and I was able to receive all of his military medals and pins. I was trying to search and figure out the meanings behind them all and when i typed in “Vox Aquilae” this page was the first to pop up. I enjoyed learning about this unit and to see its history. I would love more information if anyone knows a direction to be pointed in I would greatly appreciate it. My grandfather was a Vietnam Veteran.

My father James J Doherty of 501st Signal Corp was in five battles including Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge. He returned home with a significant case of PTSD. He was from Providence, Rhode Island. I am his daughter.

When to Saudi Arabia and work for 580 Signal BN attached to the U.S. Embassy in charge of Armed Forces Radio and TV. Came back to 501 st then got out in 1996.
